Monmouth Caps

Monmouth Caps

The Monmouth cap (Welsh: Cap Trefynwy) is a distinctive woollen headpiece that gained popularity from the 15th to 18th centuries. Associated with the historic town of Monmouth in South East Wales, this cap features a unique shape, often adorned with intricate patterns.

Things don’t happen overnight.

Making Monmouth caps in a traditional way takes time. You can see me knitting them and learn about the process by visiting one of the events I participate in.
